Mahfud MD Ada Suap atau Tidak Tunggu 8 Desember

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com — Ketua Mahkamah Konstitusi atau MK Mahfud MD mengatakan, persoalan benar tidaknya ada oknum MK yang diduga menerima suap akan diumumkan kepada publik pada 8 Desember mendatang. Saat ini, tim investigasi yang dibentuk telah mengusut kebenaran dugaan tersebut tengah bekerja secara rahasia.

"Kita berada pada misunderstanding. Tim investigasi akan bekerja secara diam-diam sehingga tidak usah melaporankan kepada pers. Saya sendiri pun tidak pernah tanya ke mereka. Saya pun pernah bertemu Refly, Buyung, Bambang. Saya tidak pernah bertanya karena nanti dikira saya mendesak-desak," ujar Mahfud di Dharmawangsa, Jakarta Selatan, kemarin.

Mahfud mengaku, saat ini tidak ada yang bisa disampaikan kepada publik lantaran semua proses investigasi masih terus dilakukan. "Kalau saya bicara sekarang, saya hanya mengulang-ulang hal yang sama, memang itu harus diungkap. Dan kami menunggu untuk diumumkan," ujarnya.

Dia menjelaskan, hingga batas waktu investigasi 8 Desember mendatang, Mahfud berharap laporan tim dapat mengungkap kebenaran dugaan tersebut. Pada tanggal itu Mahfud mengaku akan meminta laporan dari tim lantaran, menurutnya, MK harus dijaga kemurniannya sebagai icon penegakan hukum.

"Tim harus mengumumkan. Ini tugas tim. Tim itu yang harus menyatakan jika tidak ditemukan ataupun ditemukan. Agar MK sebagai lembaga penegak hukum yang masih dipercaya tetap terjaga. Sehingga, tidak saling menyalahkan," ujarnya. (Iwan)

Colourful ... Barcelona fans will be out in force when their team plays Real Madrid.KOMPAS.com - More than $1 billion worth of players, 12 European Champions League trophies and 51 domestic league titles between them.

These are staggering figures for any football teams. But for Spanish super clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, they are normal, even expected.

When the two La Liga teams face off for the first time this 2010/11 football season tomorrow at 7am AEDT, up to 500 million people across the globe will sit in front of television screens in awe, watching every kick, every dribble, every tackle.

The importance of this fixture cannot be overestimated. El Clasico - in fact, scrap that, it's now called El Gran Clasico - is unparalleled in terms of viewers and passionate rivalry.

The seeds were sowed at the beginning of the 20th century with the birth of the clubs. Real, through its location in Spain's capital city Madrid, was associated with Spanish nationalism. Barcelona, home of the Catalan semi-determination movement, represented just the opposite.

Such is the bitter rivalry between the cities and its teams, Spaniards were the first to express surprise at the "red effect" - the seeming unity of support their national team received during the World Cup.

Spain went on to lift the trophy in July.

But in August, when the Spanish league season kicked off, attention swung back to the rivalry and the two mega-clubs.

Messi v Ronaldo

The showdowns between the clubs are mouth-watering for football and non-football fans.

And there is no bigger showdown than the one between the world's two best footballers - Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Messi, of Barcelona, is arguably the world's best player at just 23 and the 2009 winner of the FIFA World Player of the Year.

Squaring off against the Argentinian is Ronaldo, 25, the 2008 FIFA World Player of the Year.

The Real player, formerly of Manchester United, seems keen to prove himself against his more popular counterpart.

"I'm the bigger player ... at least I'm taller and broader," ESPN reports the Portuguese star as telling Spanish television.

"Messi is in a phenomenal moment right now - loads of goals and exhibition football.

"The whole world seems to want to talk about Messi and me, but Barca and Madrid are not one-man teams. We are very different types of footballers, but I'm quite sure that during my years at the Bernabeu I'm going to be one of the best players in the world."

Mourinho v Guardiola

If Ronaldo's confidence borders on the arrogant, then his manager, Jose Mourinho, would be the most arrogant of them all.

Mourinho, who called himself the "Special One" when he joined Chelsea in 2004, is also Portuguese and has a cabinet overflowing with trophies.

Fresh from winning Serie A, Italy's league championship, and the European Champions League, Mourinho moved to Real in the European summer for a bigger challenge.

His reputation for turning everything he touches into gold preceded him and there was initial disappointment when Madrid started the season with two 0-0 draws in three games, wrote Spanish football expert Sid Lowe on The Guardian's sports blog.

Then his charges turned on the magic, winning 6-1, 4-1 and 6-1 in the next few matches. Real now sit at the top of the league, leading Barcelona by one point, having scored 33 goals in just 12 games.

It's a dream start for 47-year-old Mourinho, who was dubbed the "Michael Jackson of coaches" by Spanish newspaper El Pais, Lowe noted.

But Barcelona's fans are not known for understating their dislike for Real. In 2003, they threw a severed pig's head onto the pitch to protest Luis Figo's move from Barcelona to Real.

So what does the "Special One" think of his first El Gran Clasico? Is he daunted?

"I am totally tranquilo," he tells London's Daily Telegraph.

"It's very special ... I'd be lying if I said it wasn't.

"I know I'll get a hostile reception. That's just football. I beat them with Chelsea and Inter and now I'm coaching their rivals. That's too much. But it's the way it works. It will still be Tuesday the next day."

His opposite number, Pep Guardiola, also betrays no nerves.

"I expect it to be a marvellous game against a very good rival," the 39-year-old says in a pre-match press conference.

"Mourinho knows we will go out to attack them and they will attack us when they can. If we lose I want to be able to say that we have been Barca."

Guardiola has won the last four El Gran Clasicos. Whether he will make it Barcelona's fifth straight win tomorrow morning, or Mourinho will notch up his first, remains to be seen.

"Madrid has always had a good team and they always will have, but we have a formula that is the same as always," the Spaniard stresses.

"That is what has won us titles and also the admiration of so many people.

Liverpool takeover: Mill Financial approached Premier League to seek approval

The Premier League declined to consider whether Mill's representatives would be suitable directors because they did not have the authorisation of the Liverpool board.

Mill looked to seek pre-approval so that they were in a position to complete a deal for the club today

A spokesman for the Premier League said: "We will continue to deal directly with the board of Liverpool Football Club and take direction from them with regard to any ownership issues."

This follows after uncertainty over Liverpool’s future deepened this morning when Tom Hicks and George Gillett lifted the Texas injunction preventing the sale of the club.

The move opens the way for Hicks and US hedge fund Mill Financial, which is understood to have assumed control of Gillett’s 50 per cent stake in the club, to attempt to derail the deal with New England Sports Ventures. The two sides are now appear to be engaged in a race against time to win control.

While the restraining order prevented NESV from doing a deal it also stopped RBS from doing a deal with anyone, so its removal was necessary to facilitate any kind of deal.

Hicks and Gillett are due to repay at least £200m of loans to RBS by close of business today. If they fail their leverage in the negotiations may be reduced, but RBS would have to exercise its security against the club, possibly by way of administration, to cut them out of the picture entirely.

Sources close to NESV and the club board said this morning that they believed the lifting of the order was intended to allow Hicks to launch a final effort to remain in control.

Hicks’ and Gillett’s London solicitors Peters and Peters emailed club directors and RBS this morning to inform them that their clients had complied with the order made by Mr Justice Floyd in the High Court yesterday. Their action appears to render this afternoon’s Dallas court hearing into the case irrelevant.

Hicks and Mill are understood to have been in talks for some time over a deal, and their last-ditch efforts over night have unsettled NESV. In a tweet this morning John W Henry said he would fight for the club.

"We have a binding contract,” he said. “Will fight Mill Hicks Gillett attempt to keep club today. Their last desperate attempt to entrench their regime."

NESV believe any such attempt by Hicks would have to be ratified by theLiverpool board and they would be prepared to return to the High Court to have their binding agreement, twice ratified by the board, upheld.

Hicks and Mill Financial’s chances of success appear to rest on their finding a way of repaying RBS that the bank is obliged to accept and the club board cannot stop.

The terms of the club’s financing with RBS, defined in a Corporate Governance Side Letter (CGSL), give Martin Broughton and his fellow non-English directors sovereignty over the articles of the companies and the sale process.

Mill Financial is understood to have already offered to repay the debts but was told by RBS that it had to first buy Hicks’s shares.

Sources said today that Broughton and the board should be able to stop this transaction and yesterday sources close to Hicks said he had not sold them the shares.

That could leave Mill Financial having to repay the loans on a promise that Hicks would then sell them on his take in the club at a later date. If RBS were repaid in a way that bypassed the club board it is hard to see how the bank could impede the sale.

It is thought that any decision would still need to go before the club board, though with RBS repaid Broughton’s sovereignty would be in doubt. NESV would also be certain to seek to invoke an agreement they believe is binding.

The club’s fate now rests on the legal discussions taking place on London and Dallas. Ultimately it may depend on whether Hicks and Mill Financial are able to get £200m to RBS before NESV can.

'Project Runway' Season 8, Episode 12 Recap

[Project Runway - "We're in a New York State of Mind"]

It's the final runway challenge before Fashion Week and like many seasons, the contestants buckled under the pressure. Heidi tried her best to prevent that by allowing the contestants to stay at the Mandarin Oriental's Presidential Suite overnight, giving the contestants two days, and $500. Mayor Mike Bloomberg announced the challenge: design a look that was inspired by a New York City Landmark. I'm still waiting for a designer to use either the New York Public Library or St. Patrick's Cathedral.

I didn't think that the Lower East Side was considered a "landmark" but none of the dresses that were created had any direct inspiration. This challenge has been done before and the dresses previously had more passion and more flair. None of the dresses looked like $500; they all looked like they could have been done on a $100 budget.

The contestants' two work-days didn't tell us much. With less people, one would think that there would be more focus on the designs. For most of the episode both Michael and Mondo didn't have a dress and Andy's was magically done. We focused on several ideas that didn't happen (Michael's basket-weave shrug and Mondo's attempts at cutting sequin) and watched Mondo sleep.

How the judges loved the dress Michael made was beyond me. Not only was it a very easy dress, the slit was too high, and the whole ensemble looked like a 1980s dress. I guess he was lucky that Heidi likes slutty and that Gretchen and April bombed. Several seasons back Michael Kors would have said, "You could see what the girl had for lunch wearing that dress." Simple dresses can be sexy and fashionable, but a flowing black dress wouldn't be enough to convince me to allow Michael into Fashion Week. Watching the underdog make it through the season was interesting, but don't convince the audience that a simple black dress was enough.

For weeks now, Mondo and Andy both were a lock for making it to fashion week. The fact that Andy was done early and Mondo took a long nap was enough to convince anyone that they were fine. Mondo proved that he didn't need colors. Andy, on the other hand, really needs to get past the "Super Bitch Warrior Woman" designs that he's been labeled with. I didn't see Central Park, but luckily I also didn't see the Chinese prostitute that Gretchen suggested.

In retrospect, Gretchen's story line made sense. The bohemian girl started off with her guns blazing and then buckled and ran out of steam. Her role during the whole show was edited as the "villain" of sorts, but she was really one of the mean girls. This week's dress for her was horrible. The top was a throwaway, the skirt had that tacky leopard on the inside, and the jacket was odd to me. The levels of the stripes and how the jacket didn't fit right upset me as well.

April never had a chance when she picked black and dark fabric. Her dress looked like a pregnant woman's Paso Doble dress I would have seen on 'Dancing With the Stars.' While her cutouts were interesting and I appreciated that she cut out the heavy amount of zippers, the bunching in the stomach was odd. If I judged based on of the top half only, she would have survived Gretchen. If anyone had a chance to look at April's decoy collection, you would have seen that she can do non-black, joyful clothes.

Christian Siriano was an interesting choice for final runway judge because Michael, Nina and Heidi kept putting him in his place. He also pointed out that he only saw one dress and could only judge off that. He appreciated April's idea and design and mimicked the Idiot vs. Idiot Savant argument that Gretchen had about Michael's dress. I had a feeling that Christian's opinions didn't mean much to the other three, but it was nice to see a Bravo season contestant on Lifetime.
